This weekend saw the release of the highly anticipated film Joker: Folie à Deux. Joker: Folie à Deux is the follower up movie to the The Joker which was released 5 years ago.

Many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the new joker movie. So, we decided to jump on the band wagon and see what the fuss is about.

This reporter had already seen the first joker movie and it was amazing. This time round I wasn’t sure what to expect as I hadn’t even seen the trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux. You could say I was going into the film blindfolded. All I knew going into the Movie was that pop singer Lady Gaga starred in it as Harley Quinn.

Right, it’s time to get down to business and the review of the movie. Firstly, the film is a musical, yes, a musical without any doubt. But you must expect some kind musical performance when Lady Gaga stars in a Film.

It is a quite a slow burner, during the first hour I was questioning when the film would start to pick up speed and the answer was in the second half of the movie. The second hour of the movie is when things start coming to life and you start to get value for your money.

The movie itself is based around the trial of Arthur Fleck (The Joker) and Joaquin Phoenix who plays The Joker, gives a brilliant and unexpected performance. Phoenix, who in my opinion buts on an Oscar winning performance, while Lady Gaga performed well in her cameo role.

There is an Irish connection to the film as well. Brendan Gleeson features as security guard in Arkham State Hospital.

Joaquin Phoenix who throughout the movie appeared to have an uncanny resemblance to Mel Gibson and Daniel Day Lewis.

Overall, I thought the movie was excellent. Bear in mind, it does take a while to get going, but when it does, it is truly worth the wait. Is it better that the original? In my opinion no, but then again not many sequels are.

Go into the movie with an open mind and don’t be put off by the musical factor.

Every now and again Netflix springs up a series that intrigues the nation and is the hot topic of many conservations, “The Perfect Couple” is the perfect example. Excuse the pun!

The murder mystery thriller with a bit of Cluedo thrown in for good measure is number 1 now in the Top 10 tv programmes in Ireland today on Netflix.

A lavish wedding in Nantucket ends tragically before it even begins when a body washes up on the beach the morning of the ceremony, and everyone staying at the house for the weekend is a suspect.

The star-studded line-up includes Nicole Kidman, Live Schreiber and Dakota Fanning to name a few. But what many people aren’t aware of is that two Irish actors have major roles in the hit Netflix series.

Irish actors Eve Hewson and Jack Reynor star in Netflix series.

Eve Hewson plays the lead role of Amelia Sacks who is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket.  In real life Eve is the daughter  U2 frontman Bono.

Reynor plays Amelia’s brother-in-law Thomas Winsbury, the groom’s older brother.

So set a few hours aside and sit back and enjoy this rollercoaster of murder mystery thriller!
