MINISTER AND COMMISSIONER SUMMONED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS -Boyne

At the latest meeting of Meath County Council, outspoken Aontu councillor Dave Boyne called on the Minister for Justice and Garda Commissioner to attend the next meeting in person, to answer questions on the state of policing in Meath.
This was following a spate of burglaries in the south of the county in the preceding weeks.
"Criminals are going completely unchallenged in South Meath, treating our homes and businesses like their personal playground. It's like a real-life game of Grand Theft Auto", stated Boyne.
On 1st March, a protest was held in Ballivor to voice residents concerns and to raise support for re-opening Ballivor Garda Station. "We assisted Ballivor Community Council in organising this protest. Something had to be done. Meath has the lowest number of Gardai per county in the country. There's a break-in reported to the Gardai every 50 minutes in this country, you'd think it was the Wild West. This cannot be allowed to continue".
"It is the duty of the government to provide security to their citizens. They are not doing this. Key to this is the dire pay and conditions the Gardai are forced to accept, and the utter farce that is our justice system. Ultimately, the government are not doing their job. I really hope Minister O'Callahan and Commissioner Harris attend Meath County Councils next meeting to provide answers".
A petition will be organised to gather support to re-open Ballivor Garda Station over the coming weeks.
