Drogheda United travel to Tolka Park on Friday evening to face Shelbourne

The Boynesiders come into this game following a 1-0 win away to Bohemians at Dalymount Park on Monday.


Drogheda took the lead after 17 minutes. Shane Farrell saw his free kick from 25 yards crash back off the bar.Owen Lambe delivered the ball back into the box, to Andrew Quinn, who nodded the ball into the path of Thomas Oluwa.


Oluwa rolled his defender and fired into the far corner, scoring his first league goal for the club on his first league start.


Dennison made a fine save minutes later to palm Tierney’s deflected strike over the bar.Drogheda had the best chances to find another goal, as Farrell saw an effort deflected wide, and Oluwa had an effort saved by Talbot at his near post after a fine run from the halfway line.


Drogheda saw out the victory, to maintain an unbeaten start to the season, and earn a third clean sheet in four games.


Drogheda most recently played Shelbourne in the President’s Cup a month ago, with Damien Duff’s side running out 2-0 victors, in a game where Luke Dennison saw red after 54 minutes.


In team news, defender Elicha Ahui, midfielder Paul Doyle and forwards Douglas James-Taylor and Josh Thomas are all ruled out through injury.
