Can Sinn Fein say for once and for all that it won’t put FG back into Government?

That’s the question being posed by Aontú leader and Meath West TD Peadar Tóibín who says

“The people of this country are dizzy with the amount of 360 degree turns SF has made”.

“It was in favour of the Hate Speech Bill… then it wasn’t”

“It was in favour of Carbon taxes, then it wasn’t”

“It was an enthusiastic supporter of the Government’s reckless Family and Care Referenda, it even went so far as to say it would put it to the people again if it didn’t pass, then when the people soundly roundly rejected it, it huffed and puffed and said it wasn’t really in favour of it in the first place”.

“It rounded on communities who just wanted answers to fair questions around mismanaged immigration and now it is cosying up to them …or trying to ,at least”.

“Sinn Fein is blowing around like a feather in a hurricane. People right around the country are so disappointed with the party as it doesn’t stand for much any more. It has no principles it won’t swap for political expediency”.

“This general election is incredibly important. At the doors housing, for the cost of living crisis, the health service that is buckling under the weight of waiting lists and accountability are coming up at the doors over and over again. But over the last few days people are starting to think about which parties will make up the next government”.

“Incredibly, despite the slump in popularity of Fine Gael, we all could be faced with the damaging prospect of FG slipping back into government. A vote for FF, SF, Labour and the Soc Dems could lead to 19 years of FG government. These parties are all attacking Fine Gael while also saying that they will talk to Fine Gael about government formation. This is not what change looks like”.

“I think is really important that Sinn Féin in particular comes clean with the public. Will it or won’t it put Fine Gael back in government. It is not good enough to prevaricate on this key question. People want a straight answer. People have a right to know before they vote. Aontú is the only mainstream Dáil party that has ruled out putting FG back into government. People know where they stand with Aontú. We are looking for change. We will not entertain Fine Gael or the Greens after this election”.

“The spectre of SF and FG in the leaba together for five years is a frighting one ; FG has already caused so much damage, the country just couldn’t take it”.
