Bray-Greystones Cliff Walk - Update

Cllr Stephen Stokes has welcomed the clear schedule for action by Wicklow County Council. He serves as Vice-Chair of the Bray-Greystones Cliff Walk committee. Cllr Stokes stated: "The Council is assessing risk areas, especially areas of high risk. Soon they will will switch to drone surveys. It's great that we are able to harness the power of technology."
Upcoming Work Schedule:
Week Commencing 30th June 2025
Further technical surveys are being carried out, including a detailed assessment of high-risk areas along the route and a review of historic instability zones.
Week Commencing 14th July 2025
A drone survey is scheduled, which will capture high-resolution video footage and produce a 3D textured model of the target area. This advanced imaging will support engineering analysis and future planning.
Week Commencing 21st July 2025
A key stakeholder meeting is planned with Iarnród Éireann and other partners to discuss findings, coordinate next steps, and maintain project momentum.
Wicklow County Council continues to liaise closely with RPS Group, the appointed engineering consultants, to ensure the project proceeds according to plan. Regular updates and reviews are a priority to deliver a safe, sustainable, and timely reopening of the Cliff Walk. The next meeting of the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk Management Committee will take place on Tuesday, 8th July at the Civic Offices in Bray, where further progress will be reviewed and discussed. Cllr Stephen Stokes noted that all Councillors in Greystones and Bray are determined and united on this issue.
Cllr Stokes concluded: "The Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk is one of the jewels of our coastal heritage. While progress may not always be visible, considerable behind-the-scenes work is being carried out to assess the route in detail. We are committed to delivering a safe and long-lasting solution, and I thank the public for their continued patience and interest."
